Road trip chic pt. 2

DAY 3

Ok, so, we woke up in Rauma. This was monday. Before leaving we took a walk around the old Rauma, old buildings and adorable little cafes and stores. Then we headed to the south coast of Finland and we saw the first sunlight during our trip. So far it had been cloudy and rainy. On our way to Hanko we couldn´t help but stare at the wind power stations from the car. We were literally driving half the speed the other cars ´cause we were so mesmerized by the size of them, we had never seen them so close! There´s a lot of things you don´t see every day living in a big city. In Hanko we spent most of the day by the sea. We went all crazy over seashells and we collected handfulls of them. People were probably wondering if we had never seen seashells in our lifes. At night we hang out at the harbour, drinking, listening to music, talking about dreams, watching the sunset and just enjoying being alive. And oh, soap bubbles! The little joys of life.

DAY 4

The final day. First stop was Fiskars. I had no idea this sort of place exists. You probably don´t know but Fiskars is also a brand for sciccors and knives and it comes from this village. I didn´t know there could be so many tourists (very well cut away from the photos) in a small village like that. You could find Fiskars museum, Fiskars store, hotel, restaurant, other tourist spots... and all of them along one street. It´s a lovely village anyway. There were many art installations around the river (I´m sitting on one and then there are the bottles). I hopelesly tried to send a grass boat thingy down the river but failed (see fail attempt #7). After Fiskars we drove to Porvoo which is actually quite close to Helsinki but we had never visited before. To me the biggest surprise was that it was like a real town. My classmate from college lives in Porvoo and I always imagined it to be a small village with no centre. Then we went home to sleep ´cause we were exhausted. End of story.

Road trip chic pt. 1

DAY 1

Some serious map staring, some ridicilous car trouble ("Hey sir! Do you know how we could go backwards with this car?"), some a lot of stripes, some hanging out and enjoying life and some karaoke. So, we left Helsinki and headed towards Tampere. We did stop a few times on the way there and somehow randomly ended up hanging out by this river. We had a great great time in Tampere partying ´till morning. Then ended up sleeping in the car. And no we did not cordinate our looks, it was a pure accident!

DAY 2

This was a sunday. So, we woke up in the car and drove to the closest gas station to brush our teeth and so on. We were both looking really messy after the night before but we decided it doesnt matter, it´s "roadtrip chic". From Tampere we drove to Yyteri beach in Pori. That´s such a pretty beach. It was a little bit rainy but not cold. Well, the water was cold but we took a swim anyway. Do you remember when you were a kid and the water was never too cold? Those days are far gone now... From here we drove to Rauma where we spent the night. We went to see Snow White and the Huntsman in a small local movie theathre. Not my favorite version of the movie.

I´m going away on a road trip with my friend for a few days. Nowhere in particular. Just everywhere around. It feels good not knowing whats gonna come. This is the time of our life. We´re not getting any younger.

The neighbourhood.

Lazy sunday walk around the neighbourhood.

I live in the hopes that spring is soon here.

 

My sandals arrived! Though it was still snowing not much more than a week ago I live in high hopes of the (hopefully) soon coming spring. I love this area I live in. It took me less than 10 minutes to walk to the store where I picked my shoes up and more than 20 minutes to walk back. I was too into looking at the buildings, stores and restaurants so I ended up missing my street twice. You just have to love the architecture in Helsinki
